KAl(SO4)2·12H2O
Alum is both a specific chemical compound and a class of chemical compounds. The specific compound is the hydrated potassium aluminium sulfate with the formula KAl(SO 4)2·12H 2O. Alum is soluble in water! Do not place your specimen in water. Keep in a dry location or inside a plastic bag to protect it. These Alum specimens are grown in the laboratoruy in Poland. They display excellent crystal structure and color.

CHALCANTHITE
CuSO4·5H2O, also known as blue Vitriol and Copper Vitriol
Chalcanthite, whose name derives from the Greek, chalkos and anthos, meaning copper flower, is a richly-colored blue/green water-soluble sulfate mineral CuSO4·5H2O. It is commonly found in the late-stage oxidation zones of copper deposits. Due to its ready solubility, chalcanthite is more common in arid regions. Our Chalcanthite is laboratory-grown in the USA, displaying beautiful intense blue color and excellent crystal structure. Do not submerse in water! This is a water-soluble mineral. Keep in a dry location, or preserve by storing in a plastic bag.

SILICON CARBIDE
also known as carborundum
Silicon carbide (SiC) is a ceramic compound of silicon and carbon. It occurs in nature as the extremely rare mineral moissanite, only having been found in minute quantities in certain types of meteorite and in corundum deposits and kimberlite. Virtually all of the silicon carbide sold in the world, including moissanite jewels, is synthetic. Silicon carbide is a semiconductor. It is used in many applications, from LEDs, to lapidary, to the grip tape on skateboards, and in high performance brake dics. Collectors are attracted to this mineral for its attractive appearance.
