Andradite is a species of the Garnet Group.
Location: Kayes Region, Mali
Chemical Composition: Ca3Fe2Si3O12
Hardness: 6.5 - 7
Andradite was named after the Brazilian mineralogist Jse Bonifacio de Andrade e Silva (1763-1838).
Melanite refers to the black colored Andradite
